TFC Records and Amped Up! music blog

Greetings from Corpus Christi, Texas ... Richard's the name but you can call me Richard.

Been listening to punk since the mid-80s and have been playing it since '87. Presently, I am a freelance music journalist, rabid blogger (Amped Up! music blog) and podcaster.

I also run a small label/DIY distro called TFC Records (twenty first century) .... we've put out numerous records by Texas bands since 1991. You can hear some of these bands on my podcast show:

I began blogging in '06 to focus on indie/punk/underground music events in Corpus Christi while I was still a page designer at the city daily. Eventually, my blogs grew to expand into road shows featuring reviews and interviews with artists such as Napalm Death, The Briefs, Fu Manchu, G. Love and Valient Thorr. These days, it's definitely more like a web zine much in the flavor of my first fanzine more than 20 years ago.

Finally,  I am a musician as well. I started in The Krayons in 1987 and spent twelve years in Laughing Stock, a post-hardcore band out of Austin. Most recently, I was a drummer for a psych-garage rock trio, The Golden Meanies, and a drummer for the crossover/hardcore band, Macho. I am presently in Hobo, a DIY Americana thing with a weakness for drinking songs.
